ALL ABOUT PEELS

Whether you're considering your first peel or are a seasoned expert, the information below will help you maximize the results of your peel experience. As our founders were the discoverers of the profound benefits of Glycolic Acid (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) on skin, you can trust NEOSTRATA® to guide you through your peel experience.

WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?

Peels are chemical solutions used to exfoliate and enhance skin turnover, improving the appearance of the skin. Peels can be formulated to be used safely at-home, or at higher strengths administered by professionals. Peels are not just for the face and can include a variety of active ingredients, from Retinol to Glycolic Acid. Historically, peels have used ingredients such as Phenols and Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) as the primary peel solution. These chemicals often have the undesirable side-effect of redness, irritation and downtime (time needed for the skin to heal after the procedure).

That all changed when our founders discovered the benefits of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) for exfoliation. AHAs allow for highly effective resurfacing with little of the associated redness or irritation and little to no downtime.

WHAT DOES A CHEMICAL PEEL DO?

Just as the name implies, peels work by removing layers of skin cell buildup to reveal a softer, smoother complexion. Chemical peels can be used to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve the appearance of acne-prone skin and improve the appearance of dark spots, overall skin tone and texture.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AT-HOME PEEL TREATMENTS?

• Affordable alternative to professional medi-spa treatments

• Exfoliates or sloughs off, dead surface cells

• With continuous use, skin looks softer, smoother, lines are visibly reduced and skin looks more hydrated and radiant. Maximizes the effect of moisturizers and helps makeup apply smoothly and evenly.
